With over 30 years of teaching experience, I have witnessed firsthand the profound changes in our youth over the past 15 years. It has become increasingly evident that many teens are struggling, both academically and emotionally. As an educator, I am deeply concerned about the challenges I see unfolding in high schools today.

Recognizing the urgent need for support, I felt compelled to take action. My mission is to provide effective solutions that empower not only teens but also their parents. Through my experience in the classroom, I have identified critical areas where guidance and resources are lacking, and I am determined to make a meaningful difference.

In addition to the changes in our youth in recent years, the pain points I experienced in my own adolescence help inspire me to advocate for teens.

Despite having wonderful, successful parents and supportive siblings, I struggled deeply. While my material, spiritual, emotional, and physical needs were met, some of my core needs went unaddressed. In search of validation, I turned to attention-seeking behaviors, people-pleasing, and the pressure to overachieve. By the age of 12, I also began using alcohol as a coping mechanism.

When my family moved from Maryland to Texas, the transition felt like a complete culture shock—so traumatic that I blocked out significant portions of my middle and high school years. Sharing this part of my story helps me connect with today’s teens, as I understand the fundamental needs they face: the need to be loved, accepted, valued, and truly seen. Teens need a purpose—a "thing" that gives their lives meaning.

I eventually discovered my "thing" in high school through resilience and hard work. I channeled my struggles into academics, took on multiple jobs, and found solace in exercise. What started with simple walks and running evolved into a passion for fitness, leading me to become a certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer.

Throughout my life, I have faced challenges, including divorce and overcoming addiction—14 years sober now, thank God! Each struggle has shaped me, reinforcing the importance of having a purpose.

Today, I see that the world lacks effective solutions for our teens, particularly in the aftermath of COVID-19, which robbed them of so much. Many teens grapple with unhealthy habits, including a profound addiction to technology, and there is a pressing need for guidance.

I know what can help: igniting a fire within teens by helping them discover their own "thing." When they find that passion, they will be motivated to address and improve other areas of their lives. Empowered with Beth is born from my commitment to help teens navigate their challenges and thrive, fostering a brighter future for them and their families.

.These kids are our future, and I am ready to empower them !
